Personal statements:

Courage is not the absence of fear. Rather, it is a mindset of moving forward despite the fear because something else is more important. You are reading this page because you already realized your wellbeing and fulfillment are more important than whatever emotions or challenges are trying to hold you back from your full potential. You taking this first step of seeking help is truly a courageous act and a sign of inner strength you might not even be aware of.

As your counselor, I will help you develop a new mindset of courage and resilience to confidently face life’s challenges. My goal is to create a safe place for you to reevaluate your lived experiences, emotions, and thinking patterns. Through counseling, you will discover previously unknown inner strengths and will envision new opportunities and direction for your life.

In James 1:2 we are challenged to develop a new mindset; to “consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds.” It seems counterintuitive to think of trials as an opportunity for joy. But James goes on to say that “the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Where you currently see trials, I will work to help you see the potential for hope and joy. I would love to walk alongside you and support you as you take those first steps on your journey toward wellness and joy unlimited.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2008, I possess a variety of skills and experiences in creating a safe emotional workspace for you to build a pathway to wellness. As an adoptive father since 2009, I thoroughly understand trauma, behavioral issues, and anxiety. As an older adult specialist for 15 years, I can keenly navigate the complexities of medical-related, age-related, and life-transition issues, such as grief, loss, loneliness, and depression. Having worked in the public mental health system for 14 years, I am well experienced in treating severe mental illness, including psychosis and suicidality.
